In the year 2019, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) was awarded a $30.7 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. for the creation of the Hispanic Career Pathways Initiative (HCPI), a comprehensive, first-of-its-kind program to support Hispanic students as they navigate each step of their life from college to career. What HSF scholarship Offerings?

HSF Set to launch at the end of 2020, HCPI will offer a multi-tiered approach to providing career discernment and career development directly to hundreds of thousands of Hispanic college students in the USA. HCPI programs will include:

HSF University: Career Pathways Curriculum: HSF will develop the HSF University Career Pathways Curriculum for the student. This comprehensive, self-paced online program helps scholars navigate the essential career preparation and planning elements. This scholarship[ will include topics such as:

  1. How a student land an internship
  2. How students select the right job for their skill level
  3. How a student succeeds in the workplace
  4. How a Student Manages Stress in College

Personalized Career Discernment, Guidance, and Support: The HCPI technology platform will link scholars who complete the career pathways curriculum and take the HCPI career assessment with career coaches and mentors through the HSF Alumni and Advisory Council network and from HSF local and national corporate partners nationwide. Matches will be made based on scholar needs, preferences, and interests.

HCPI Annual Convening: Every year, the HCPI Convening will bring together representatives from the Higher Education Consortium and the Employer Consortium to, among other, examine HCPI program data, highlight emerging best practices in career services, identify opportunities for enhancing HCPI, and facilitate engagement between HEC and E.C. members for the student help.

Internships: Corporate partners participating in the E.C. will give internships and full-time employment opportunities to scholars who complete the HCPI curriculum. These scholars can also draw upon HSF’s institutional and corporate partners network for additional experiential learning opportunities. 

Career Connection Days: In collaboration with university partners, Career Connection Days are half-day programs where candidates learn about the core concepts of resume building and navigating their pathways toward career success. Scholars will also have the opportunity to gain insights from Career Services representatives and alums who have succeeded in their selected careers. Breakfast and lunch will be provided, and no cost to attend.

Eligibility Requirements for HSF Scholarships?

  1. Applicant must be of Hispanic heritage.
  2. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, permanent legal resident, or DACA. 
  3. Score a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) for high school students and a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale for college and graduate students.
  4. Students should have the plan to enroll full-time in an accredited, public or not-for-profit, four-year university or graduate school in the U.S. for the 2024 academic year.
