Since 1975, Petronas has awarded education scholarships to more than 36,000 deserving students of high academic caliber who dare to push boundaries with a performance mindset and leadership capabilities among students on merit. This continues to be pursued by PETRONAS, which focuses on promoting the right talent that will ultimately contribute to the growth of the company, industry, and nation.

Petronas is spending RM340 million for this program in the form of scholarships, which enables SPM high-achievers to pursue tertiary education in various academic fields, including chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, petroleum engineering, geophysics, accounting, marketing, law, data science, and data engineering, at universities. Most students will be studying at Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP). At the same time, the rest will go to leading universities in the US, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, and South Korea.

Every year, PETRONAS offers academic scholarships to deserving students for studies in secondary schools and institutions of higher learning. Approx 19,000 students have benefited from PETRONAS’ tertiary education sponsorship programs at the Foundation, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate levels, while more than 11,000 secondary school students have received scholarships.

Scholarships are awarded to students who have obtained extraordinary results in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations for undergraduate studies at established universities in Malaysia and overseas. Scholars can choose to pursue technical and non-technical courses relevant to the industry.

Eligibility Criteria for PETRONAS Scholarship 2024

• Students must be Malaysian citizens aged between 16 – 19 years old during the year of application
•  Applicant must Possess strong leadership skills and active participation (demonstrable) in extra-curricular activities

Foreign University Sponsorship (Including Branch Campuses in Malaysia)

Scholarships are available for Malaysian students to pursue engineering and Information Technology degree courses at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). PETRONAS Scholarship 2024 will be granted based on merit, including excellent SPM results.

Students must complete a 12-month Foundation Programme at UTP before offering undergraduate studies.

NOTE: Students must apply for the Sime Darby Scholarship 2024 in Malaysia

Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS Sponsorship

Scholarships are available for Malaysian students to pursue engineering and Information Technology degree courses at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). Scholarship will be granted based on merit which includes excellent SPM results.

Applicants must complete a 12-month Foundation Programme at UTP before advancing to undergraduate studies.

NOTE: Students must apply for Bank Negara Scholarship 2024 in Malaysia

Malaysian University Sponsorship

Students studying in Malaysian public universities may also apply for Scholarships if they pursue undergraduate courses in Engineering, Applied Science, Accountancy, Economics, and Information Technology.

Eligibility for Scholarships is based on merit, including excellent Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) / Matriculation / Diploma results.

How To Apply For PETRONAS Scholarship 2024

• Applicants must submit their application online through the student portal.
• Shortlisted students will be informed of the Online Assessments scheduling and undergo a series of assessments.
• Notification of successful candidates for the PYD will be announced on 15 August 2023 via their Online application system, where you are required to log in with the same credentials.
